Title- Title 1 Teacher Assistant

Reports to : Principal

Terms of Employment: 10 months

Salary: Pay Grade AIDE

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

 

An employee in this class performs any combination of classroom duties to assist teaching staff. The employee must have the ability to execute details of the work according to general, broad based instructions, and be able to adapt to frequent and varying changes in work. The employee provides guidance and coaching to students, and requires the operation of various media and technology equipment such as computer, television, VCR, cassette player, overhead projector, laminator, copy machine and various other office equipment. Because of the nature of the work, the employee may be exposed to human blood and body fluids, and is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens. The employee is subject to work both inside and outside, and varied work environments. Work is performed under the supervision of the classroom teacher and is evaluated through conferences and observation, and through the quality and quantity of the work performed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, hearing, talking, and repetitive motions. While performing the responsibility of this job the employee is regularly expected to stand and walk and sometimes has to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

BUS DRIVER

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

 

An employee in this class operates a school bus on assigned route(s) and schedule(s) to provide safe and efficient transportation that is time and cost effective, reliable, orderly, and that generates public confidence and respect. Work involves performing pre and post trip inspections of the bus, obeying all traffic laws and school bus regulations while operating the bus; observing all safety regulations and standards, and  maintaining discipline to students assigned to ride the bus. The employee is also responsible for completing all required reports and securing the assigned bus before leaving the vehicle at the conclusion of a run or route. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in maintaining acceptable relations with parents/guardians of students transported and with school personnel.

 

Employee must have the ability to execute details of work according to specific instructions and be able to adapt to frequent and varying changes in the work schedule.  The employee is subject to hazards associated and exposure to various hazards such heavy traffic conditions, loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases and oils.  Some independent judgment is exercised in performing daily work activities.  Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated by observation and in terms of the safety, efficiency and quality of operation a school bus and performing related responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

 

Graduation from high school and some experience driving large vehicles, with some experience transporting humans preferred, or and equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Must be physically able to operate a school bus.  Must be able to decelerate the bus and firmly apply the brake in an emergency situation.  Must be able to turn the steering wheel of the vehicle rapidly in an emergency situation.  Must be able to begin in seated position with seat belt fastened, parking brake released, and engine running, secure the bus (parking brake set, key removed), rise from the seat, exit through the rearmost emergency exit, and be in a position to assist passengers in exiting the bus within 20 seconds.

Must be able to perform basic life functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
