After completing your online application, visit our website @ http://www.davidson.k12.nc.us/departments/humanresources/substituteteacherinformation/ for more information on how to proceed with the process. There are 3 phases to our process to becoming a substitute. After the paperwork for Phase I is complete (released after online course is completed), your file goes to our Director of HR for review. After initial approval, she will release the Health Certificate. Once your doctor completes the Health Certificate, please return it to Crystal Asbury via mail or drop off at the Central Office (250 County School Road). An appointment will be made for you to come in for fingerprints (minimum of 2 weeks for response from SBI) and a background check (Phase III). Once your prints return from the SBI, your file goes back to our Director of Human Resources for final review and approval. Upon approval you will receive a postcard in the mail that states you are an Approved Substitute.

 

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

 

A substitute teacher serves as a teacher during the absence of the regular classroom teacher.  The substitute teacher monitors student behavior, attends to the needs of students, and follows the regularly established routines of the classroom. The substitute teacher receives detailed instruction of the duties and responsibilities of this work from the regular classroom teacher. The substitute teacher serves under the direct supervision of the principal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Must be physically able to accompany students to various locations within a school.  Must be able to perform basic life functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, pushing, pulling, speaking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.  Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
