Salary: Pay Grade - DPI Salary Scale
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
To serve as the chief administrator of a school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of students and the professional development of staff members.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Function as the instructional leader.
- Assist teachers in implementing the components of the NC Accountability Programs.
- Use test data to set goals and directions for the school.
- Conceptualize the broad goals of the school.
- Set objec tives for the instructional and extracurricular programs of the school.
- Provide assistance and guidance to personnel in professional growth through a quality appraisal process.
- Evaluate teachers using the newly approv ed NC Teacher Appraisal Instrument.
- Maintain quality communication with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Encourage use of community resources.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience as a school-based administrator.
- Hold a current North Carolina administrator license.
- Advanced Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of current requirements under the North Carolina Accountability Program.
- Understanding of how to interpret test data.
- Knowledge of legal, financial, and organizational requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of typing, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Some positions assigned to this class may require light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
