Title: Title 1 Math Interventionist
Reports to: Principal
Terms of Employment: Determinded based on Title 1 School Funding
Salary: Pay Grade- Teacher pay
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The goal of the Title I Math program is to accelerate the learning of students in math by providing intensive intervention and classroom support. Students served must attend the Title I school for which the specialist is assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides an additional layer of intense, explicit, and differentiated instruction for students.
- Organizes, plans, and sets instructional goals that meet the needs of the individual student and group using a variety of data sources.
- Works collaboratively with school personnel to create a professional learning community, develop goals and strategies in the school improvement plan that enhances student learning and teacher working conditions.
- Collaborates with Schoolwide Team to determine a systematic process for identifying students at risk of failure in math.
- Collaborates with administration and classroom teachers to finalize selection/grouping of students receiving Title I math intervention services.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers to develop intervention goals and strategies based on the MTSS protocol; documents meetings and conversations.
- Contributes to data conversations and PLC’s using current student data.
- Serves as an academic resource for teachers and parents at school and facilitates math training for professional staff throughout the school year under the direction of the principal.
- Participates in the implementation of initiatives to improve the education of students within the school.
- Supports and implements NCLB requirements and services associated with the Title I program.
- Demonstrates high ethical principles including honesty, integrity, fair treatment, and respect for others.
- Establishes an environment for a diverse population of students that is inviting, respectful, supportive, inclusive, and flexible.
- Evaluates and analyzes student progress using diagnostic information obtained from assessment procedures to plan and make adjustments to daily instruction using research-based interventions to meet the needs of different learners.
- Communicates with parents through conferences, monthly newsletters, progress reports, and phone calls (including written positive communication and student instructional progress).
- Incorporates 21st century life skills into instruction deliberately, strategically, and broadly that include leadership, ethics, accountability, adaptability, personal productivity, personal responsibility, people skills, self-direction, and social responsibility.
- Uses a wide range of standards-based instructional practices, approaches, methods, and curriculum materials to support reading achievement.
- Integrates and utilizes technology in instruction and data management, when appropriate, to maximize student learning.
- Assists students in developing critical-thinking, cooperative leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Provides students with specific feedback of a positive nature and sustaining feedback by prompting, modeling, or using language that is explicit and constructive.
- Maintains ongoing documentation of students receiving intervention services using multiple indicators, including formative and summative assessments, to evaluate student progress and growth to eliminate achievement gaps.
- Continually participates in continued, rigorous professional development, keeps abreast of Common Core State Standards and current research, including 21st skills and knowledge, to develop expertise in the area of math intervention, and demonstrates evidence of implementation and growth based on personal professional and student needs.
- Adheres to established laws, policies, rules and regulations.
- Carries out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as need is perceived, not to exceed responsibilities assigned to other teachers in the school.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Valid North Carolina Teaching License with appropriate grade level certification. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Some positions assigned to this class may require light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
