Title- Instructional Coach
Reports to: Principal
Terms of Employment: 10 Months
Salary: Teacher Salary
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The school-based Instructional Coach is responsible for assisting the school in the development and implementation of effective standards-based instruction, appropriate assessments, and interventions/enrichment. This position is not responsible for carrying out administrative duties such as walkthroughs, classroom observations, discipline, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supports the school in the implementation of MTSS through training and coaching
- Assists teachers in utilizing effective practices through professional development, coaching, planning and mentoring
- Provides job-embedded professional development for teachers
- Works with teachers and administrators to analyze student data, diagnose instructional needs and identify research-based instructional strategies to close achievement gaps
- Manages and distributes instructional resources to teachers and provide training on the use of those resources.
- Encourages and supports the implementation of technology and innovative strategies in the classroom.
- Encourages and provides support for family engagement by organizing family events
- Coordinates state and local testing (if no full-time Assistant Principal assigned to the school)
- Maintains compliance with Title I Guidelines, including preparation of records for federal monitoring (if applicable)
- Attends district level training and provide school-level professional development and support for district initiatives
- Disseminates information to appropriate personnel in regards to curriculum updates, revisions, and requirements in a timely manner
- Collaborates with Director of Elementary Education in the development and revision of new curriculum
- Performs other curriculum and instruction duties as assigned by the school principal
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Detailed knowledge of effective instructional practices and current educational trends
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with principals, staff, students, and parents
- Ability to formulate and express ideas on educational issues and prepare recommendations for possible improvement
- Ability to provide training to various levels of personnel
- Ability to communicate effectively through written and oral forms
- Working knowledge of effective technology tools
- Ability to work in collaborative teams
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to plan and implement short and long term goals with action steps
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor Degree in Education
- Masters Degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience
- Experience in working with adult learners
- Experience in using researched-based instructional practices
- Experience in leadership at the school level
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Some positions assigned to this class may require light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
